SAR Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer any financial assistance?
We understand how trainings such as these may be cost-prohibitive, especially for individuals in the early stages of their professional development and for marginalized populations. Unfortunately, at this time, we do not offer any form of financial assistance. We are hoping to expand our scholarship/financial offering in the near future. However, if you are interested in a payment plan or would like to discuss other options for payment, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org, if you need to discuss your financial hardship.
I am currently a student - is there a student fee?
There is no student rate for our SAR at this time. However, if you are interested in a payment plan or would like to discuss other options for payment, please contact email@example.com, if you need to discuss your financial hardship.
What is included in my registration fee?
The registration fee covers program tuition, 14 AASECT CEs, light breakfast both days, snacks, coffee/tea, and water. Once you have registered, you will receive more information via email and be asked whether you have any food allergies, sensitivities, or restrictions. We will do our best to accommodate them.
Please remember that transportation, housing and main meals are not included. For your convenience, we have arranged a room block at the Hilton Asheville Biltmore Park. Here is a link to their website: Hilton
You may also call the hotel at 828-209-2700 to speak directly with a hotel agent. Mention the SAR training to be placed in one of our room blocks.
What is your refund and cancellation policy?
Refunds will be issued for cancellations up to 30 days before the scheduled SAR workshop, minus a $25 processing fee. Cancellations received within 30 days of the scheduled SAR will not be refundable. If you must cancel your registration, please email firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, should either facilitator need to cancel the SAR, all participants will be fully reimbursed for their registration cost. Travel and airfare will not be refunded and we encourage you to book with a cancellation policy for emergency situations.
What are the hours and expectations for the SAR?
In order to receive full credit for the SAR, each participant must attend both days as well as the live event Saturday night. There will be an hour lunch break, which participants can enjoy on their own at nearby restaurants, or may bring their own food (there will not be a refrigerator available onsite). Shorter 15-minute breaks are scheduled for both the morning and afternoon sessions. Participants are expected to engage fully in all course activities, which are designed with various learning styles in mind. We understand that a SAR may bring up memories of trauma and unpleasant life events - special arrangements have been made should you need to leave the room or need extra time to process. More details about safe spaces will be discussed onsite. A full program outline will be sent to participants one week prior to the SAR dates.
Is the SAR offered online or through distance learning?
The SAR is an interactive, experiential seminar that does not translate into an online format. It is an intrapersonal and interpersonal exploration of values, attitudes, and beliefs. Because small group processing is an integral part of the course, AASECT will not permit a SAR to be offered via distance learning.
When will I receive my CE certificate?
Participants must attend the entire duration of the SAR, sign-in and sign-out upon arrival and departure, and complete an evaluation of the in-person training in order to receive AASECT CEs. Certificates will be emailed to participants in a PDF document within 30 days after completion of the training.
I have a disability. Will this training be accessible to me?
Accommodations for individuals with disabilities can be requested via emailing Aleece Fosnight at email@example.com. Our SAR space is located in a hotel with handicap accessibility. Additionally, we have the ability to make other accommodations, such as enlarging the font on hand-outs, creating a space welcoming to those with chemical sensitivities, etc. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to discuss your accessibility concerns in greater detail.
