The Topic is: Sexual Medicine: When to Consult, Collaborate, and Refer by Aleece Fosnight, PA, CSC
This presentation will address the definition of sexual medicine and the various professionals who compose the sexual medical team, such as: physicians, physician assistants, physical therapists, pelvic floor specialists, nurse practitioners, nurse educators, and genetic counselors. We will address sexual health conditions that would benefit from consultation, collaboration, and referrals. Collaboration requires mutual trust, respect, and a clear flow of communication back and forth, utilizing ethical guidelines, which can vary in the healthcare world versus therapy. Additionally, we will discuss an example of how collaboration might look, as well as application of methods, with a sexual medicine team and overall sexual health team.
